Special Needs - Waiting Children
From time to time abandoned children are placed into our transition home requiring special care. Within the country of Zambia doctors have advised that nearly 1 out of every 5 children referred to our home could potentially test positive for HIV.
Upon entry into our home, each child receives a full medical check up, as well as a PCR DNA blood test for HIV. When a child tests positive for HIV, we have two options; one, we can move the child to a long-term care centre in Zambia; or two, we can nurture and love this child unconditionally within our foster home while attempting to locate a forever family. We firmly believe that every child deserves a family, and as such, we will continue to love these kids while seeking families who have been prepared and approved to accept these precious special needs children.
It is important to note that not every child whose blood tests positive for HIV will end up contracting the AIDS virus. With proper supplements, regular medical check ups, and ongoing education, an HIV positive child can go on to live a very long, healthy and productive life without illness. Our world is full of individuals, some of whom are professional athletes, who have done just that.
There are waiting children within our home presently who doctors claim are very healthy and who are thriving in every way, despite a positive HIV blood test. These children laugh, cry, run and play just like most kids.
If you are an adoptive applicant who is knowledgeable about HIV, or who may be interested in learning more about adopting an HIV positive child, please contact our office for further information.
